At The Well: How is My "Older Woman" Mentality?

This week at Gathering At The Well, we have been focusing on Titus 2:3, "Similarly, teach the older women to live in a way that honors God. They must not slander others or be heavy drinkers. Instead, they should teach others what is good." NLT

Here are the questions, with my answers to them regarding this week's devotion:

How are you doing as an older woman?
Recently I have been asking God to send me someone that I can mentor. I think that is one thing that has been missing from my walk with God. As a woman I have not been using my godly womanhood to mentor someone else who may need some encouragement. Right now, there is a young couple in our church going through the same things that we went through (marriage problems). I want to be that woman that leads a quiet and gentle life, and that is able to help other women love their husbands as Christ showed us how.

Do you live in a way that is appropriate for someone serving the Lord?
I do believe that I live my life in an appropriate manner. The Lord has helped me to get my gossiping under control, my spending habits under control, and has taught me many lessons on the subject of submission. I think that when others see me, hopefully they see the Lord. Not to say that I do not have instances where I mess up, but I know that God in all His glory will restore me and I can then again move on to the calling He has set for me.

How is your speech, your attitude?
My speech recently has become seasoned with grace. My attitude has been restored to that of a most humble nature. For a while I was very angry and had alot of anxiety towards others built up. It caused me to take my eyes off the Lord and focus on my circumstances. I prayed and asked God to restore me again, and faithfully as always He broke my Spirit and has begun to renew me to the humbleness of His goodness and mercy.

Are you producing the fruits of the Spirit in your life?
The fruits of the Spirit is something that I have been working on quite freqently lately. I love that they start with love. Without love, none of the other fruits can be obtained. You have to be willing to accept the love of the Father, before you can have joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. Because I have accepted God's love, His fruits show in my life. Sometimes when I forget about the love, I lose sight of the fruit.

How about you? Are you willing to lay it all down for the Lord to be the lady, the woman that God has created you to be? Quit being scared of what you think people will say about you, or do to you. Regardless of whether they think you are weak or not, Jesus thinks you are an awesome woman of God!

I love how you said, "I think that when others see me, hopefully they see the Lord." What a Godly desire!

Thanks for sharing!

I love that you asked for someone to mentor. I remember asking for a mentor. For someone to mentor me. I received 3 mentors. Although they are still my mentors it is now time for me to start passing it on. Thank you for allowing God to use you to bring me this revelation.
