How Much Do You Love Him?

Forget it. I just cannot take a break.

I am having a rough time with myself right now--spiritually.

There are some things missing from my life that I so readily crave anymore that it is killing me.

Do you want to know what it is?

The thing that I am missing most from my life is the ability to worship the Lord with believers who truly want to serve God.

I am not talking about the occasional raising of your hands during a song that has touched your heart. I am talking about falling prostrate before the Lord kind of worship. The kind that makes you cry uncontrollably for hours, or have fits of laughter. I miss that SO much.

I have been so blessed with the things God has done to me and shown me during these times of worship. For me, just raising my hands is not enough. Just singing along with everyone else is not enough. I need pure unadulterated worship. You see, God has won my heart so strongly, that the only way I can repay Him for the wonderful act of redeeming me is to worship Him as the woman with her alabaster box did.

You know the lady I am talking about. This woman worshiped God with EVERYTHING in her. That is how I want to worship Him. I am not just satisfied with serving Him by doing things for Him. I want to be that woman. You have to have lived my life to totally understand why I need to serve Him.

Enjoy the song. This song makes my heart know that I can worship Him this way.

While I’m Waiting

Last night as my husband and I watched Fireproof again, one of the songs on there reminded me about our struggles over the last year with jobs and finances.
The song I am talking about is While I’m Waiting by John Waller.
The words to this song speak so clearly to me.
I'm waiting
I'm waiting on You, Lord
And I am hopeful
I'm waiting on You, Lord
Though it is painful
But patiently, I will wait
I will move ahead, bold and confident
Taking every step in obedience
While I'm waiting
I will serve You
While I'm waiting
I will worship
While I'm waiting
I will not faint
I'll be running the race
Even while I wait
I'm waiting
I'm waiting on You, Lord
And I am peaceful
I'm waiting on You, Lord
Though it's not easy
But faithfully, I will wait
Yes, I will wait
I will serve You while I'm waiting
I will worship while I'm waiting
I will serve You while I'm waiting
I will worship while I'm waiting
I will serve you while I'm waiting
I will worship while I'm waiting on You, Lord
Last October, Stephen lost his business due to the economy. We had to close the doors and look for work elsewhere. I landed a job working from home for The Old Schoolhouse Magazine, but for my husband this was not so easy.
We went from October 2008 until July of this year living off my income and the money Stephen made from selling his tools and things. We were determined to see this struggle through, all the while giving God all the glory. It wasn’t easy. There were many times that we were not sure we were going to make it, but then God would show up and show out and get us through until the next month.
We spent many nights on our knees praying for provisions from the Lord. Stephen sold his truck, we sold our Wii, he sold almost every tool he had to make ends meet. During this whole time, I can only remember one time Stephen breaking down. He was such a wonderful example to me of how to behave during a crisis like this one.
We worshiped God while we waited. We served God while we waited. The weird thing is this: we had ultimate peace during those struggling times.
While you wait, serve God and let others see what a Miraculous Savior you serve. It will make a major difference in how the world sees Jesus and also how you view Him as well.

Righteousness and Devotion to God

This week at the well,we are talking about this verse:

Titus 2:12 "And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness and devotion to God," NLT

The topic turned to the following questions:

Do you find yourself taking part in godless living and sinful pleasures?
If so....What steps are you going to take to gain strength in wisdom, righteousness and devotion to God?

Stephen and I have strived to live a holy and pleasing life for the Lord from the things we watch, the music we listen to, the people we spend the most time with, the presence in our home--all these areas we strive to live in righteousness and devotion to God. But what are the steps we have taken to get there?
For starters, when we first got saved we made it a point to not watch any show on tv or videos that used curse words or had explicit sex scenes in them. I can already hear you now for those of you who know us saying, "but you wath....". Let me explain how we are able to watch those shows. We purchased a TV Guardian many moons ago which removes all language from tv shows, videos, or anything that we watch on tv. It does not remove the sex scenes, so we have to be very cautious about the movies that we get regarding that. We hold each other accountable with the shows that we watch. It is very important and I will share why in just a few minutes.
Another thing that we do is we do not listen to other music that talks about sex, drugs, cheating on spouses, etc. We choose to listen to music that is uplifting to God. Nowadays there is so much Christian music out there from every genre, that there is something for everyone.
In this day and time, it is important to look at what we watch and listen to. Here is the sole question that I base everything I do on. Are you ready because it is a rather complicated question. Here it is:
"If Jesus were sitting here, would you be watching that, listening to that, wearing that, talking like that"?
See! I told you it was complicated. That small little question is packed with a punch and truly holds me accountable. If it is something I would not be comfortable doing with Jesus in the room, then nine times out of ten, it is something you SHOULDN'T be doing anyway!
So that is my two cents on that verse today. I hope that some of what I shared with you is helpful.
