Butterflies

Kayla took these photos a couple of weeks ago. She found a bush where we were fishing that was covered in butterflies.

Everyday should be butterfly day.

The Rock

Can you believe my daughter found this rock? Isn't it gorgeous?

Needless to say, this rock was dug up and brought home. She is cleaning it and it will go on her headboard with all her other "nature finds".

Riding Through Gatlinburg

While I was away on my trip, my friend Nancy and I took a slight detour to Gatlinburg. Here are a few of the sites I snapped while driving through.

The Wondrous Cross!

Dowtown Gatlinburg

A city (in this case a house) on a hill cannot be hidden! Beautiful!

The majestic "Smoky" Mountains
As you can see, this town is breath taking!

A Cute Find

Look closely at this photo and tell me if you can spot my cute little friend.

Not seeing him yet? What about now?

He looks like a pretty big frog, right?

He is actually only this big!

He was SUPER tiny! I thought he was so adorable. He sat so still in my hand. I love God's little creatures.

Loving MY Camera

Do you see this camera?

This is my camera. I have had this camera for four years now. My husband bought it for me when we started homeschooling because he knows how much I love taking pictures.

BUT. . .

This is the camera that I have been pining over for a year now!

For some reason, I have had this thought in my mind that the camera I have is not good enough for me, even though it takes great shots like this one:

Or like this one. . .

Recently, I read a statement on someone's blog that you just need to start snapping photos with what you have, instead of trying to wait until you get the right camera.

So, I have made up my mind to love the camera that I have--because frankly, I do. If and when I am ever able to afford that kind of camera comfortably, then I will get one, but for the time being, I will fall in love with mine!

I am finding that in my life right now, I am just really tired of wanting what everyone else has. It is time to embrace what I have and thank God for the provisions instead of wasting my time wanting what I cannot have.

Birds

Matthew 6:26

Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

 2 Corinthians 5:17

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

 Enjoy the encouragement today!

I Heart Faces: Pet Photos

AnytimeI get the chance to showcase my pooches, I snap it up! This week at I Heart Faces, everyone is showing photos of their pets. I had a hard time deciding which photo to use, but this is the one I finally came up with:

My daughter has a knack for catching my chihuahua sleeping, and he usually does so with this tongue sticking out! Isn't he adorable??

Sweet Shot Tuesday~Cake Baking

Kayla is quite proud of her cake baking efforts recently. We learned how to make home made fondant, which she was able to use to make her nanny (grandmother) a birthday cake! This is the completed project, but I will share the tutorial on how we actually made the fondant in another blog post!

So what have you been taking photos of lately?

Sunset

Kayla took this photo the other day when we were at the pond fishing. The more I look at it, the more I see the glory of the Lord shining down on me.

It is absolutely breathtaking.

What do you think about it?

I Heart Faces: Bundled Up

This week, our photo submissions at I Heart Faces is all about bundling up. I took this photo of Kayla and Kenzie when we had our major snowstorm.

They both look bundled up and they were most definitely having fun in the cold.

You can link your picture to I Heart Faces.

I Heart Faces~Hilarious Outakes

This week at I Heart Faces we get to share some hilarious outakes  from photos we have taken. Here are a few that are my favorite:

Everytime we go out to eat, those two get started!

You can always bet Robert will make a funny face some kind of way.

We love playing around in the man store!

I was always a clown when I was a kid!

Icicles

Kayla was intrigued by the icicles hanging from our bushes and our house this past week so I thought I would share the photos with you.

We watched as these icicles fell from the house and pierced the ground. It was amazing the force behind them when they fall. No wonder people are killed by these things!

These are pictures of the bush with loads of icicles hanging on them.

Pretty neat huh? We thought so too.

This week on I Heart Faces, our challenge was kisses. This is one of my favorite shots of Kayla and Puff. She took this one day and I just brushed it up some with my photo editing software.

Friday Photo Flashback: Family

I love participating in this meme because it helps me to remember older pictures that I had forgotten about! This one is from 1994. Robert was six months old...he is now 15!!!

I had gotten my hair cut short because I had heard awful things about what can happen with little boys and long hair. I was 20 years old here....wow! That seems so long ago!
You can participate in Flashback Photo Friday by going HERE.

I Heart Faces: We Are Family Challenge

This week's I Heart Faces challenge is Family Photos.  I have a very special photo of my family--my husband and kids--in their "having fun with daddy" mode.

This photo was taken the first year we started homeschooling. We spent that year taking tons of field trips and on this particular day, we went to Bass Pro Shops. All through the store, the kids and their dad "posed" by different props.

As we were leaving the store, they decided to hop on this mule and stage a crash. To this day, the kids still talk about this day.

To me, this is family. Having fun, spending time together--spells family with a capital F!

I Heart Faces: Face Photo

This new year, I decided that I was going to start doing more with photography. I am saving up my Swagbucks for a new camera at Amazon, cause I want one of those digital SLR cameras--they are sweet!

Anyway, I decided to enter I Heart Faces Photo Challenge. This is my first one ever. This week the challenge is faces. Over Christmas, I got this picture of Kayla as she was preparing to open her first gift. The look on her face is just awesome--anticipation. You can see it in her eyes, her fingers, her smile.
That face says it all! This post is linked to I Heart Faces.
