When Momma Gets Sick

I have been so sick the last couple of days with a really bad sinus infection. Normally when this happens, Stephen and the kids eat out because I am just to sick to cook supper.

This time however, Kayla(age 11) stepped up and took over the kitchen like she had been cooking for years. She made supper for the family last night and then she made dessert (chocolate chip cookies) on top of that!

Sometimes as a mother, I always wonder if I am teaching them enough academically and socially. Last night just proved to me that YES I am teaching them and they are learning. By the time they leave this house, they will be well rounded young adults who are smart and can care for themselves without having to have someone do things for them.

I think that is one of the beauties of homeschooling—being able to really teach our kids about the finer things in life—not just about learning to multiply or add, but to care for a home and to cook for themselves.

This post is linked to Finer Things Friday.

Wow, what a blessing! It's wonderful to see that our lessons and guidance are heard :)
