Notice Any Changes?

You may have noticed that all my ads are gone from the sidebar. ALL of them. Anything that I was affiliated with, I took off. The FTC has decided that as a blogger, I should not be allowed to make money at one of the things that I love the most--blogging.

I have two giveaways in the works and as soon as those are done, I will not be posting anymore giveaways. Sorry guys! I love doing giveaways, but I like my blog more than giveaways and I don't want to lose it.

I will continue to post my devotionals, our homeschool journey, and my fabulous recipes, and movie and books reviews as I finish them.

To be honest, I am kind of glad that this is happening. One of my favorite movie quotes from Hope Floats is when Harry Connick Jr is talking to Sandra Bullock about his giftedness in building. She tells him, "Justin, you can build like this and you go around Smithville painting houses for a livin? You could do so much more." I love his response. It speaks much wisdom. He told her, "You find somethin' that you love and then you twist it and torture it--tryin' to find a way to make money at it. You spend a lifetime doin' that--and at the end, you can't find a trace of what you started lovin'." I think that is what I have done. I love writing, but instead of just writing and using my gift for God the way He intended, I keep trying to find ways to make money doing what I love to do. I don't want to lose sight of that--ever.

So to make a loooong story short, I am just going back to regular blogging!

How has the FTC affected your blog? I would love to hear!

Welcome to Michelle's Blog party! I found you on her link box. What a blessing that the Lord graciously teaches us what He wants us to learn...He is SO GOOD! I think your blog looks lovely...don't know what it looked like before, but it has a welcoming feel to it. Keep on with what the Lord has put on your heart.
Blessings,
Camille

Came over to say hello from She Looketh Well. Saw your name on Mr. Linkies. It has been going and seeing all the different ladies blogs. Yours is very pretty. Enjoyed your posts.

I was a little curious on the FTC? I have a blog store. Does that count? If you have a minute, would you mind letting me know? I hope that isn't something I can't do.

Thank you, if you don't have time that is okay.

Jennifer, would you expound a bit on this with more specifics...I don't really understand what you are saying. How and WHY did the FTC say that you can't make money with your blogs?

I'd like to know what you mean about the FTC. I've had ads on my blogs for years and had giveaways. I've reported my earnings on my taxes. Is there something else I need to know?

btw, your blog is super cute! I stopped by today from Michelle's blog party!

I'm stopping over from the Blog Party too! On the FTC, well, I'm disappointed. I am going out of my way even more than before to point out that--yes, I do get free books and get to keep them in exchange for writing reviews of them. However, no, I do NOT get any money for doing so! I have a disclosure statement link on my front page, but I now am prefacing every single review with a statement about who gave me the book, and that it was free!
