Randomness and Lots of It!

I have so much mulling around in my brain today. I have a billion random items, so I won't share them all with you, but here is the condensed version.

~The kids leave for camp on Monday. They will be gone a whole week. I am nervous and yet excited all at the same time. It is the first time in four years that they have been away for more than a night. I have a whole week to myself and I am at a loss of what to do. Any suggestions for me??

~I made a couple of mistakes in the checkbook which have cost me yet again. I keep asking myself WHY do I continue to torture myself this way, and why I don't just pay cash for everything and not use the checkbook that often. I hate when I do this.

~I am kind of tired of working from home lately. I miss being able to visit with faces of people and talking and chatting with them in public. Thinking of taking on a job(part time of course) somewhere.

~I have been watching episodes of Army Wives and have a greater appreciation for the military life. It's not as easy as the world makes it look for them. They have a lot to deal with. I love their code of honor that both the soldiers and the wives stand by.

~I almost deleted my Facebook and Twitter accounts this past week. I just don't get them anymore and they are major time suckers for me.

~I am trying really hard to be content with everything going on around me. I am also trying hard not to let people's comments get to me when they do not agree with something I have said or done. I am trying to remember that God has given me clear direction and it does not matter what others think or say, only what God says.

That's about it for my randomness today. Join up over at Under Grace and Over Coffee.

You'd REALLY shut down your FB acct.? JK (sorta). But, by all means, do what is best for you (with the Spirit's prompting, that is). ;)

I can give you a few checkbook stories!!

I have a suggestions for your time, but I'll have to email you.

Have a peace filled weekend, my friend!!

LOVE YA

Oh the comments! We love them, but we don't love them. I usually read the ones I don't like with my Best Friend and then we make mock responses of how we really want to reply, but don't. It's probably not how God would want me to respond, but it helps.

I vote for you to get out of the house while the kids are gone and spoil yourself at least once a day. Whether that be getting a pedicure to going to Starbucks. Enjoy your break. I'm jealous. I have to wait for that for another 7 years.

I deleted my twitter yesterday and have been contemplating the fb account... it's a time sucker for me too and I'm just not sure that God wants me on it anymore... still praying about it. SO glad I'm not the only one willing to give up fb!! :)

Happy Weekend!

((hugs)) I can so relate to those.

For me, everything is about time management and priorities. I'm still working on those things and haven't mastered them. I set limits as to what days I will "work" (blog, shoot, edit, etc...) My school year schedule is filled to the hilt:

6 am - 12pm: I get ready, eat breakfast, do chores, and do school.

1-2:30/3pm: I do my work during this time, which is also the Boybarians' nap time. What work looks like varies from day to day. If I feel like I need a day "off", I take a break and just take a nap or read a book instead.

3 - 5/5:30 pm: The Boybarians wake up, snack time ensues, we (try) and tidy the house, do afternoon chores, and fix supper. This requires all hands on deck.

5:30 - 8:30 pm: We eat supper, on some nights dad goes to work, we clean up the kitchen, play outside, baths and showers for everyone, and watch Dirty Jobs on Instant Netflix until the Boybarians fall asleep.

8:30 - 10:30 pm: The Boybarians are sleeping, us Olders pick something to watch with Mom and Dad, we get on laptops/iPhones, and just talk. When we all get tired we all head to bed.

This schedule varies. Instead of playing outside after supper, we might go somewhere if dad has to work that night. Time management is *so* key for me. I would like to make more time to visit in person with friends, though.

I think the FB thing has been on a lot of minds lately - I know of a few people who have left or pared down their accounts, and I have been trying to decide what to do, too. The great thing about FB is it's not a spiritual decision - it's all a matter of you figuring out your priorities and acting accordingly. I realized that this morning and it lifted the burden of guilt I was feeling over even contemplating such a thing! :P

As for those comments, we all get them. They suck, don't they? Just remember to take them with a grain of salt and that these people do not know the real you or your motivation. It's easy for some to be mean or rude because they hide behind a cloak of anonymity. It takes courage to disagree with someone with respect, because you may end up having to admit you yourself are wrong! (I should know - I learned that the hard way! :P )

I've noticed a lot of people feeling that way about FB and Twitter. Fewer people are updating, and it's so easy to have these "services" become huge time-wasters.

Enjoy the 4th of July weekend!

I've thought a lot about the comment thing. Since I am relatively new to the whole blogging thing, I started judging the quality of my writing by the number of comments. I don't think, though, that is the right way to handle the situation. I write what I feel compelled to write and in everything want to honor God. I know now that my blog can impact someone even though he/she doesn't leave a comment and I can't keep getting wrapped up in what other people think. It's so hard not to take things personally and it is hard to not immediately get defensive when we are offended, but maybe there is another way to view the situation. Maybe it's not always about us. Sometimes we have to just let it go.

I was always tired of working from home because it's the same thing over and over again. That's why now I'm looking for a job outside the house.

Following you from Social Parade!! :) Hopefully you can visit us and follow back! Have a great 4th of july weekend!
