A Gift from God

This past week God gave me a reminder just how very much He loves and cares for us. Today I would like to share that experience with you. I hope that you all get as much out of this as I did!

My mother in law, Janice, is a wonderful woman of God. Several years ago, she became disabled and no longer able to work. She began living on a VERY limited income, about $500 a month. She was in need of a car because the one she had was no longer worth the expense to fix up. A couple in our church heard of her need, and because of their love for Christ and for serving Him, they purchased this car for her. It was an amazing time to watch God work in her life and the lives of those who served Him to help her out. What was more amazing was that she promised to use that car for His glory. I watched daily as this older car lasted for about 8 years helping others, that is up until about 2 months ago.

2 months ago this car that had so graciously been given 8 years before finally played out to the point that it was not worh fixing up any longer. The junkyard man paid her for the car and off he drove with her only means of transportation. So began my worrying stage: What was she gonna do to get around? How in the world were we going to help her get a car? Where would the rest of the money come from to get her a good vehicle? So many questions and not enough answers to suit any of us.

We began looking for her a car. Everytime we would find one that we could possible afford, by the time we got to it, it was already sold, or the mileage would be too high, or it was an extreme gas guzzler. Things just looked absolutley hopeless. Janice was beginning to get impatient and to be honest, so was I. But my sweet husband, he kept the faith. He kept saying, "Mom, if God did it once, He can do it again. Just be patient. The right one will come along".

A couple of weeks ago, she received a call from her pastor. A deacon in the church had put up a substantial amount of money towards the purchase of her a car. Others had also chipped in. The day she called to tell us that God had provided her a car once again at no cost to her brought my mind racing back to that day 8 years before when He had done the same thing. Why in the world do we ever doubt that God can care for us and that He loves to surprise us? This beautiful moment for my sweet mother in law brought to mind these scriptures from God's Holy Word:

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and it will be opened to you.

For everyone who asks receives; and he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks it will be opened.

Or what man is there among you who when his son asks for a loaf, will give him a stone?

Of if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he?

If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in Heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!

Matthew 7:7-11

How much more does God love us? This and so much very more. When we love and trust God to take care of us, He gets the glory through those hard times, and we get the peace that comes from trusting in Him to do right by us. Here is my mother in law being taken great care of by the best Father in heaven and on earth!
