The Ultimate Jedi Master

I know NOTHING about Star Wars, but my husband and my kids LOVE it. In fact, hubby's favorite character is none other than Master Yoda (I am SO short that he has nicknamed me that. I take it as a huge compliment--aside the fact that Yoda is hairy green, old, and quite round.)

Anyway, Kayla found this adorable tutorial awhile back on crocheting your own Master Yoda. This is what she wanted to do for her dad for Father's Day.

Kayla gave him his card and then handed him the box. The card was SO adorable. It said--"Happy Father's Day to the KING of the clicker" (fits perfectly. And for those of you who don't know what a "clicker" is--it's a remote control for the tv).

When Stephen opened the box and looked inside--

Kayla was laughing SO hard that she got Stephen tickled as well. She just could not wait for him to see Master Yoda.

His one eye was a little loose but ain't he adorable? Kayla even made him a cane and a light saber!

Who says that a present has to be purchased? The ones made with love are my favorite!

My Latest Sewing Project

I made Kayla this adorable pillow. She loves dolphins and horses, so I made one side dolphins

And the other side is horses!

My sewing skills are getting better. I am halfway through with my mother-in-law's quilt. I cannot wait to show it to you!

A Mother's Day For Grandmothers

I love when my daughter works hard to bless her grandmother with something. We have started finding ways to make things homemade that family members will love instead of buying them something that they will either sell later, or stick in the closet and never use.

Handmade is a great way to go if you are looking for something special and you just cannot find that ONE thing. Here are a few things we have made homemade and given as gifts.

• Baked goodies are always a way to say I love you
• Make a complete meal for a family
• Knit or crochet or craft something

• write a letter

Baby Boy Blue

See this beautiful blue soft cotton yarn? I love it. When I saw it at the store, I knew exactly what I was going to do with it. That was about a month ago. Wanna see the finished project?

This is my very first real finished crochet project! I am so proud of it. It turned out so gorgeous. This special project is a gift for a friend who is expecting soon! I cannot wait to give it to her!

She's Got Skillz. . . Sewing Skillz That Is

I am SO proud of what I have accomplished with learning how to sew. I started out not knowing anything about my machine (which used to be my mom's, but my dad gave it to me when she died). Thanks to a couple of friends and a book I got to review on sewing for beginners, I have finally started understanding how to sew.

Do you remember Kayla's homemade doll that she made a while back? I made her a new dress and it turned out beautiful! Little by little I am learning about all things homemade.

Maybe one day I will feel confident enough to make an apron or a table cloth for my table.

Crocheting and Teaching Yourself

A while back you may remember me telling you that Kayla and I were learning to crochet. Our homeschool friends came over and we had a big party and laughed and learned a little bit together. I really only learned one stitch, but I wanted to really learn how to crochet so I started looking on YouTube and I found the perfect videos to help teach you how to crochet--without spending one dime on books!

After I learned the stitch (in like two minutes), I finished this wonderful project in two weeks(the baby blanket for Kayla's dolly):

Kayla wanted to make a hat for her baby doll. She sat down and taught herself just by envisioning what a circle looks like this adorable doll hat!

Never be afraid to try something. You will be surprised at your ability when you allow yourself to try!

Kayla and I have been working on learning how to sew and our first real project was an old fashioned doll.

and made her clothes!

We are so proud of our efforts and are already looking forward to the other outfits we are going to be making.
